DIY Post Workout Wipes: No-Sweat Cleanup
These three-ingredient DIY post workout wipes are the perfect solution when you’re short on time! Easy to make and even easier to use, you’ll be feeling fresh and clean in no time with this recipe!
Why the Post Workout Wipes?
Well, let’s get a little personal!
Just like many of my clients, I don’t have time to shower after every workout or every time I get sweaty. Not to mention the fact that I would be showering seven times a day if I tried! On top of all this, as a personal trainer and generally pretty active person, I feel like I’m in spandex pants and sports bras most of the time, which isn’t very breathable. With no other intervention, I’d be left feeling sweaty, probably a little smelly, and generally pretty gross!
These post workout wipes are the perfect solution. They cleanse, cool, and they help keep body acne at bay. I use these almost every day and my skin feels great. Best of all, reusable wipes are a low-waste option!
The Ingredients:
This recipe is based on the face wipe recipe posted on Thrive Market. I love the gentle recipe and use these on my whole body.
1 cup witch hazel (I like Thayer’s Cucumber Witch Hazel Toner as it’s cooling and soothing)
⅓ cup aloe vera gel (Currently using Sun Bum After Sun Cooldown Gel and it’s great!)
5 drops tea tree essential oil
Sealable glass jar
Reusable wipes* OR cotton rounds
*I’ve bought reusable wipes and I’ve also made them myself! If you want to try your own reusable wipes, head to your local Joann (or another store that sells fabric) and check the remnants for flannel. This material is soft and gentle on your skin, often sold as “nursery” fabric. The remnants are typically just a few dollars for a yard of fabric, which will get you plenty of wipes. If you have the time and the ability, I also recommend sewing a straight stitch around the edges to keep the fabric from fraying.
The Instructions:
Mix the witch haze, aloe vera gel, and essential oil in your sealable glass jar. You can either leave the mixture as is and dip a wipe when you’re ready to use it, or you can layer the wipes in the jar and pull one out as needed. I like to have wipes ready to go in the jar to make it that much simpler.
I also like to keep these in the fridge as an extra cooling boost when I use them! If you need these post workout wipes on the go, put a few in a container and stick them in your bag. Just remember to hang on to the wipes and wash them like you would your towels and wash cloths!
Easy, Affordable, and Low Waste!
One of my favorite things about these post workout wipes is how they minimize the waste I create! I used to use the Burt’s Bees Sensitive Face wipes (which I still highly recommend) but being able to wash and reuse these wipes without much hassle made it easy to switch!
I always feel fresh and cool after I use these, which is tough to achieve after a few back-to-back sessions with clients! Sometimes I’ll bring these to freshen up on camping trips as well. No matter what the activity, these are a great tool to help you refresh.
